How We Can Help

Criminal charges require an individual defence

A criminal charge is not a conviction. The appropriate response depends on the evidence, the way it was obtained, the applicable law and the consequences that matter most to you.

We represent clients in matters involving:

  • Murder, manslaughter and attempted murder.
  • Firearms and weapons offences.
  • Drug trafficking, importation and possession.
  • Sexual assault and internet-related sexual offences.
  • Assault and domestic-assault allegations.
  • Impaired driving and refusal allegations.
  • Robbery, fraud and theft.
  • Bail hearings and bail reviews.

Each case is different. Each case requires an efficient, but methodical approach that carefully assesses the available evidence and information against the prosecution's standard of proof, evidentiary rules, potential procedural strategies, and the defences available in law. Rhetoric and bravado does not win cases in today's criminal courts. We use a focused, analytical plan, combined with tactics honed over years of experience and a wide range of cases, to deal with the most urgent issues and to position for the best possible final result.

What Happens When You Call

During the initial call or consultation, Tyler will ask about the charge, your next court date, any release conditions and the immediate concerns affecting your family, work or immigration status. He will explain the next procedural steps, identify the information needed to assess the case and discuss representation and fees if he is able to assist.

If you have been arrested, or are calling on behalf of someone being arrested, Tyler will ask you about the charges and the allegations, and will explain when and where a bail hearing or other release procedure can take place, and everything that will be required for a bail hearing. He is able to call the police division directly to speak with the person under arrest.

A consultation for legal advice is confidential, whether or not you ever retain the lawyer to defend you in court. You do not need to understand the legal issues before calling. If you have any documents received from the police, have those ready, along with all your questions.
