First Degree Murder Charge Withdrawn

Tyler MacDonald’s client faced a single charge, but it was the most serious: first degree murder. The charge stemmed from allegations that the client was the perpetrator in an ambush-style shooting in downtown Toronto that left one man dead. Identification of the shooter was the key issue which would determine whether the client spent the rest of his life in prison. Through careful review of the strengths and weaknesses of the evidence against the client, and many meetings and discussions with the prosecutors through judicial pre-trials (the content of which is confidential), Mr. MacDonald secured a bail release for the client, and eventually the Crown’s withdrawal of the murder charge. This ended an extremely stressful ordeal – and a potentially life-altering end – for the client without the unpredictability of a trial.
